"You'll make me cluck like a chicken". - "Actually, we prefer working with larger animals".
Hypnotherapists are not magicians, they don't worship the devil, and they don't suck blood. We are teachers, motivators, coaches and guides who assist others resolve every day problems of living.
Unfortunately, a few people are still wary and fearful of hypnotism - maybe because of these most common misconceptions:
Myth: "The hypnotherapist controls my mind and makes me do things I don't want to".
Fact: You remain in complete control and can come out of trance at any time. You cannot be made
to do anything you don't want to.
Myth: "I will be forced to be honest and reveal where I hide my money, my jewelry and my firstborn".
Fact: You are in complete control. You cannot be made to say anything you don't want to say. You
can even lie under hypnosis.
Myth: Timeless post-hypnotic suggestions: "I'll snort like a pig, jump up and down, shake my head, cross
my eyes and drool uncontrollably every time I hear the word "lunch" for the rest of my life!"
Fact: You might feel the urge to do so once. IF you asked your hypnotherapist specifically to focus on
that suggestion (if you did not ask for it, walk out!). Should you decide to go for it, your colleagues,
friends and family members will hopefully advise you to knock it off.
Myth: "I won't wake up, ever!"
Fact: You will. If you do fall asleep during hypnosis, you'll either be woken up or wake up like you normally
would after a nap.
Remember: All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. I am merely the "back seat driver with the maps". You are driving. You tell me where you are, where you want to go, and when you want to arrive at your destination. I will listen to you, study the maps and make sure you get there safely, easily and effortlessly.
